Here's a permissions problem that I don't understand, reported by amcheck. Client and server are the same host (raleigh):
raleigh 1% amcheck config_orig Amanda Tape Server Host Check ----------------------------- Holding disk /dart/amanda_spool: 7856448 KB disk space available, using 7856448 KB amcheck-server: slot 2: date X label config_orig_000 (first labelstr match) NOTE: skipping tape-writable test Tape config_orig_000 label ok NOTE: info dir /usr/local/amanda/var/config_orig/curinfo: does not exist NOTE: it will be created on the next run Server check took 25.149 seconds Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check -------------------------------- ERROR: raleigh: [could not access /dev/rdsk/dks0d4s3 (/whitmore): Permission denied] ERROR: raleigh: [could not access /dev/rdsk/dks0d4s2 (/gilmore): Permission denied] ERROR: raleigh: [can not read/write /etc/dumpdates: No such file or directory] Client check: 1 host checked in 0.109 seconds, 3 problems found (brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2p2) Amanda is installed as user amanda in group sys. Far as I can tell, the file systems should be ok for amanda to read. For example: raleigh 2% ls -l / | grep whit drwxr-xr-x 3 root sys 24 May 15 08:02 whitmore I've tried to cure the problem by entering amanda as a user for both sys and root in /etc/group, but no effect. Recommendations gratefully accepted. Thanks. Robert L. Becker, Jr. Col, USAF, MC Department of Cellular Pathology Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Washington, DC 20306-6000 301-319-0300
