I am backing up several NT machines to files on a Linux server with the purpiose of backing up these file using amanda. The backup keep failing with a timeout during the sendsize. I experimentd a bit and discovered that the --sparse option was causing this. So....
Is this a problem with tar and I can just upgrade? Can this option be turned off for the particular filesystem? I found thread from April where someone else had this problem but no solution.
