I just bought a 5 pack of tapes to prove that very thing
I've not run it through an amanda backup yet, but did a simple
ufsdump, ufsrestore with a couple small files, seemed to do it fine.

The mt rewind only takes a few seconds, (aka I suspect its at the start
already. Even after a couple of the dd commands, the mt rewind only takes
(3-5 seocnds)
I never thought of trying mt eod. Will try that when I'm beside the drive.
