New amtape error

Trying to get amanda up and running and get the following from error from amtape when I do a slot N or slot next command:

amtape: could not rewind [: too many arguments: no tape onlineamtape: changed to slot /usr/lib/amanda/chg-zd-mtx: on [: too many arguments
 
I am using the chg-zd-mtx script.

Looks sort of similar to  this one:

amtape: could not rewind [: 2: unary operator expected: no tape onlineamtape: changed to slot /usr/lib/amanda/chg-zd-mtx: on [: 2: unary operator expected I found a couple of things in the list archive about that one but that doesn't seem to be exactly what I am dealing with.

Anyone seen this before?  It is amanda-2.4.2p2-7 on Redhat Linux 7.3.
