Hello,
We're about to upgrade our current backup system from a Sony SDT-10000 DAT Tape drive to something detatched (external) and with a larger capacity. I've been looking around at tape drives and backup software, and I had Amanda recommended to me. Upon looking at amanda.org, I didn't see any kind of Hardware Compatibility list. Is this more dependant on the operating system itself? Devicewise, I was thinking about perhaps going with the Ultrium standard because it seemed to be a high capacity standard (200Gb+) that would see us into the future, but as yet have not decided on the right unit to use for this purpose. Since this backup system will now be implemented from scratch, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the following: a) Which backup units would people recommend for a detatched device backing up approximately 200Gb+ b) Whether or not Amanda would have any difficulty in working with such a device c) Whether or not the above (a) and (b) would work correctly under FreeBSD Any comments or advice would be appreciated! -- Adam Smith Information Technology Officer SAGE Automation Ltd [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.sageautomation.com
