I'm not sure that you can set your tapedev to a directory, as I think AMANDA will try to rewind it first thing. If you don't have a tape drive connected to your system I'm not sure how to get around this but if you do you can point tapedev at it and just don't put a tape into it. AMANDA will do dumps to your holding disk. There are a few more things you'll need to configure to make sure that full dumps get done and not just incrementals since that's what AMANDA will want to do as you're forcing her into degraded mode. I'm sure some of the guru's here can expand on this }:>
