In the tar.gz archive, there are 'man' dirs, 'doc' dirs, and 'example' dirs. However, setting amanda up can be a daunting task for someone just getting started. And because amanda can be made to run on virtually any flavor of a unix wanabe (even winderz, but thats a seperate mailing list just yet), the instructions in general can be a bit 'broad' and not as specificly applicable to your system. So come back with a description of your system so one of us has a better chance of having a workalike would be very helpfull to us. Better yet, go get the 2.4.3b3-20020702 dated archive from: ftp://iro.umontreal.ca/martineau (I think thats the right URL) and read all the docs and example directories, then come back with questions about what you don't understand. At that point our answers can be much more specific. There is also a group of printable pages related to amanda at frankenlinux.com that are pretty much a blow by blow setup tutorial. I found them helpfull, if slightly dated, when I first started over a year ago. -- Cheers, Gene AMD K6-III@500mhz 320M Athlon1600XP@1400mhz 512M 99.09% setiathome rank, not too shabby for a WV hillbilly
