Hi all

I was wondering is there a logfile that amanda writes to ?
I have been looking @ a problem for weeks now and still cannot find an
answer.
A logfile would really help me alot

Sorry for all that saw my previous posts on this but I just have to try
again ;-)
I find nothing in the FOM about this either so my final conclusion is
that I am doing something terribly stupid ;-)

It is really driving me beyond all reason now.

Problem is I am getting this when I run amcheck (domain name changed for
bosses sake)

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: listserve.mydomain.net: [host
ais-back01.mydomain.net.84.25.196.in-addr.arpa: hostname lookup failed]
Client check: 1 host checked in 0.053 seconds, 1 problem found

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.3)

ais-back01.mydomain.net is my tape host and listserve.mydomain.net is
the client I am trying to backup.
So it is not finding the reverse lookups for my tape host.

How have I checked it you ask?
Well I have entered it into my /etc/hosts file
I commented out evereything in my /etc/resolve.conf to see if hosts
works(it does) and then changed it back
I did reverse lookups from that host (host ais-back01.mydomain.net) from
that box and ALL the others in my domain (they all worked)
I checked with a buddy on another backbone (worked there to)
I phoned my upstream provider and asked them to check

Still no joy.

what else?
well earlier in the week I....
Checked the permissions on all files(espetially .amhosts and disklist)
Installed it on redhat 7.3 then formatted and installed redhat8.0
Tried it from rpm's and from sources
Swithched from Amanda 2.4.2p2 to Amanda 2.4.3
still all of them give me the same answer...........

Any ideas whatsoever???
