The only suggestion I have would be to carefully inspect the emailed
report form amanda, with an eye toward resetting any disklist entry that
reports a compression above 100%, to a non-compressing but other-wise
similar dumptype, thereby bypassing the compression stage for those
directories as its a waste of both time and tape space due to the files
being expanded a bit by the compressors overhead housekeeping in its
attempt to find something in the data that is compressible.
