I'd have to say the 2nd option seems more straightforward from an admin 
perspective -- no need for multiple dumptypes specifying inactive disks or 
compound dumptypes in the disklist.  And one can see, without a doubt, 
which disks are marked inactive simply by looking at the disklist.
