i apologise in advance if this is a FAQ, i can't find any evidence of it there or in recent list postings.
i have several very large but compressible datasets to back up. every night, amanda seems to only back up as many as could fit on my tape uncompressed (ie, about two), when with compression it could fit about 20 on. my dumptype is comp-root-tar, and amdump provides stastics including compression ratios for those datasets it backs up. am i right in thinking that sendsize doesn't do compression when estimating the size of the dataset, and if so, can anyone suggest how i might make it do that? or do i have completely the wrong end of the stick? -- Tom Yates Cambridge, UK.
