I've moved on a bit here is what I've done so far:-have you tried using amrecover? You may want to check out the FOM and use dd piped to your restore command. If the FOM is still down look at the chapter at storagemountain.com as it has a dd example. That happened to be the route I took last time I had to do a restore of my windows files (long story).
[Administrator@dilmom Administrator]$ /usr/local/sbin/amrestore -p /dev/nst0
dilmom KevDocs | /sbin/restore -iv -b 2 -f -
Input block size is 2
/sbin/restore: Tape is not a dump tape
Error 32 (Broken pipe) offset 0+32768, wrote 0
amrestore: pipe reader has quit in middle of file.
I just keep getting this error - can you identify where I've gone wrong.
Regards
Kevin

setdisk //dilbert/KevDocs
and if it's not the default host...
sethost dilmom
you will probably want to restore to a different location and push the files over manually...
