Hello.
May be this is offtopic a little, but I hope your expirience will help me.
I try to use Amanda on Compaq ML330 and RedHat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.18).
amdump and amflush crash with error

*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [[writing file: Input/output error]].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush again to flush them to tape.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: oracle.unity.00.

FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY:
localhost /datafiles lev 0 FAILED [out of tape]

After that my tape device hungs. LEDs show that it is in use (Busy in Tape
LED are on), and I can't eject cartridge. Reboot does'nt help, only full
shutdown (with power off) helps me to eject tape and to "reanimate" device.
Besides this there are some messages in /var/log/messages:
