It works fine on IP nr 10.1.20.26...

But on 10.1.20.44 there seems to be some complication. I guess this is the cause of the "badly formatted response" (I'm not 100% sure, but it is strange!)
I'm not a samba expert, but I guess you should try to find out what's the cause of this message.
