I found SSL encryption filter patch for amanda, but it's only for amanda-2.4.3 as far as I can tell.. anyone know if this has been done for 2.4.4 (or if it would be easily possible to DIY)? http://cns.utoronto.ca/~pkern/stuff/amanda-patch/Readme
