I found out what the problem was..

after checking things in archives and other
mailings, I noticed references to amandad and
client, I checked my install again and i did not
have the client installed!!!

I installed the rpm file and the amcheck ran fine
however, why did not amcheck complain about this
to begin with!!!

Anyway, I did a small backup to tape and now am having trouble restoring....

I am using tar and this is the restore command
and it says it cannot find the file when I know
it was there...

Is this correct?

amrestore -p /dev/nst0 SERVERNAME / |gtar xvf - etc/hosts

amrestore complains it cannot find the file...
