I'm trying to get an HP Surestore 40x6 DDS-4 changer (HP C5713A) to work with my OpenBSD3.3 i386 install. Does anyone use this device with success?
I'm not even at the amanda stage yet, just want to try and make a simple dump to the tape. dmesg shows good info: st0 at scsibus2 targ 5 lun 0: <HP, C5713A, H107> SCSI2 1/sequential removable st0: density code 0x26, variable blocks, write-enabled ch0 at scsibus2 targ 5 lun 1: <HP, C5713A, H107> SCSI2 8/changer removable The command mt status returns: SCSI tape drive, residual=0 ds=3<Mounted> er=0 blocksize: 0 (0, 0, 0, 0) density: 38 (0, 0, 0, 0) mt erase or trying to dump to tape results in: Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: st0(siop1:6:0): Check Condition on opcode 0x10 Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: st0(siop1:6:0): Check Condition on opcode 0x10 Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: SENSE KEY: Media Error Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: SENSE KEY: Media Error Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: INFO FIELD: 1 Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: INFO FIELD: 1 Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: ASC/ASCQ: Write Error Sep 15 15:55:56 samo-hqfile /bsd: ASC/ASCQ: Write Error I have not used tape devices with *NIX so this is new to me. Been using ArcServe on a windows box but CA's LicenseIT program is a pain. Thanks for any help, Mike
