amrecover never terminates

Hi,   when I use amrecover to recover files, sometimes amrecover never finishes. As soon as I issue the 'extract' command, it starts extracting the files from tape (tar). It displays the directories and files it is extracting and never returns to the amrecover prompt. The files are correctly restored, though. It's just that amrecover never gives control back to me so I end up CTL-C-ing my way out of amrecover. Has anyone experienced the same? Or should I be more patient? There are a lot of files in a couple of archives...I waited for about 90 minutes for amrecover te finish, but it never did. Thanks!   Martin
