I've started to get the following message in my nightly emails:

*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [writing label: short write].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush to flush them to tape.

Does this mean I have a defective tape, or is the problem worse than
that?
