For my install, yes it would have sped the process up. The other suggestions helped narrow down my searching as well as verify I wasn't miss reading the docs. So for FreeBSD 4.9 "atleast" putting all the messages together would be one nice FreeBSD 4.9 port install how-to. I did not find many docs or people for that matter out there that installed amanda-client from port nor many that have installed the amanda-server port which is going to be my next task when I get a afternoon to play around. I really would like to have my backup server FreeBSD like the rest of my NOS's instead of Redhat but that is just me. Consistency is a good thing......
