barcode reader help (and faq-o-matic-toast?)

I've got a Dell PV132T changer I'm trying to get working and I'm
looking for the stuff that used to be on the faq-o-matic about barcode
readers.  The FOM seems to be toast.  Anybody know where I can find
it?

(and is the FOM gone for good?)
