I have the same unit, 12/24 density. > > What is the common procedure with regard with cleaning tapes? I > suppose I'll have to check the unit regularly to see whether it needs > cleaning. Is there anyone using an automated procedure, such as a cron > to load the clean every month, or something like that. > I have several magazines. Each came with a cleaning cartridge. I've pooled all the tapes into 6/magazine (I run amdump 6 times per week) and just change to a new magazine each weekend, rotating 4. Another magazine holds all the cleaning cartridges and when I think of it I put it in. A problem with the cleaning cartrige in an active magazine is that amanda will search for a tape in that slot and when it does the drive will automatically run the cleaning. That is too often in my mind. -- Jon H. LaBadie [EMAIL PROTECTED] JG Computing 4455 Province Line Road (609) 252-0159 Princeton, NJ 08540-4322 (609) 683-7220 (fax)
