I'm running an Amanda server that does backups of some windows boxes using samba. This is a Debian machine running Debian-ized versions of Amanda and Samba. The actual Debian version of Amanda is 2.4.4p3-2 and the Debian version of Samba is 3.0.14a-1.
Last Friday I upgrade the version of Samba on this machine to the 3.0.14a-1 from 3.0.8-2. After doing that, I started getting "strange" messages for every windows share backed up in my nightly amanda reports. This is a snippet of what I get for every windows share: FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY: amanda //dba/backup lev 1 STRANGE ---SNIP--- /-- amanda //dba/backup lev 1 STRANGE sendbackup: start [amanda://dba/backup level 1] sendbackup: info BACKUP=/usr/bin/smbclient sendbackup: info RECOVER_CMD=/bin/gzip -dc |/usr/bin/smbclient -f... - sendbackup: info COMPRESS_SUFFIX=.gz sendbackup: info end ? Domain=[WECC-DOMAIN] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] | tar: dumped 1082 files and directories | Total bytes written: 3670434304 sendbackup: size 3584409 sendbackup: end \-------- Now, it appears that the share gets backed up with out problems. Is this some flaky samba related issue that I can ignore? Or is there something of concern here? Thanks! Bryan Walton
