We use this in conjunction with forcing level 1 dumps on our daily tapes. That way, if someone forgets to rotate the dailies, we still have all last night's current data backed up to tape. It's easier organizationally, and falls within our requirements for data retention.

Of course, it's not useful, or desirable, for everyone. ;)
