Yes I benchmarked it using iozone but could not get meaningfull results.
Grab bonnie++ from <http://www.coker.com.au/bonnie++/> and throw it at the
array. It's very easy to use and gives some quite basic numbers. The
ones you're interested in are sequential read and sequential write.
