Yes, of course. On FreeBSD passing "L" as an option to dump is all
that is required. Create snapshot - dump - release snapshot.

*argh* I'm very sorry. I assumed that Solaris ufsdump was just
BSD dump in disguise. On FreeBSD there is a similar command in
addition to dump's capabiltity. mksnap_ffs(8).

Mac OS X doesn't have a current FFS/Softdep implementation but favours
HFS+ with their new logging extensions.
