I have the following in my amanda.conf file.

inparallel 10

taperalgo largestfit

dumporder "SSSSSSSSSS"

holdingdisk hd1 {

    comment "main holding disk"

    directory "/export/loc1/AMANDA_HOLD_AREA" # where the holding disk is

    use 400 Gb # how much space can we use on it

    chunksize 10GB

    }

The problem that I am seeing is that amanda seems to be dumping the smaller
sizes first and my tape unit is sitting idle most of the time. What I would
like is have the biggest size dumped first so that it can start writing to
tape and my tape and dumper are working at the same time.

Does this look like how amanda should be running?

Is there a .debug file that shows the amanda.conf values used in a run? I
want to make sure tat it is using the amanda.conf values that I think it is
using.

Any other hints suggestions or is amanda doing what it is supposed to be
doing.

Thanks

Robert
