How Embarassing! I fixed my path; and I agree that I should ln a fake make to gmake; so I fixed my path, followed your example below using /tmp/make; and did a 'make distclean' which DID work just fine.
Ran gmake distclean; ./configure; gmake; and gmake install and finally, NO ERRORS!! Thank you all; I will now proceed under the assumption it worked. I'm seeing the examples/ directory and everything. WAB -----Original Message----- From: Anthony Worrall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2008 11:54 AM To: Byarlay, Wayne A. Subject: RE: can't make on Solaris 10: Failed make install! You only have usr/sfw/bin not /usr/sfw/bin Also it maybe that the make files explicitly call make so you need to have a directory in your path which links make to gmake eg ln -s /usr/sfw/bin/gmake /tmp/make set path = ( /tmp $path ) I hope this helps Anthony Worrall > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > On Behalf Of Byarlay, Wayne A. > Sent: 09 January 2008 16:40 > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: can't make on Solaris 10: Failed make install! > > Starting from scratch now, yields the following similar but different > all-recursive error.
