Sorry to take so long to get back to everyone on this. I had one of my contractors decide he did not want to work, so I have been trying to do his job, and mine :-( In any case, today I took a crossover cable, and set up a direct 192.169 connection between my Amanda master machine and one of the OpenBSD machines in the lab. h behavior is exactly the same. That is, check passes, estimate gets done, and the dump fails in mid dump. It is interesting that the files on the dumpdisk are of varying sizes, so it's not like the dumps are not getting started. Now that we have eliminated the firewall issues. what can I do next to further diagnose this failure? -- One of the main causes of the fall of the roman empire was that, lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination of their C programs.
