Your SCSI HBA ran into a failure on the SCSI bus, and went through its
usual recovery steps - try to reset the failed target, try to abort,
offline the device, try to reset the failed bus, and try to reset the
failed HBA. It looks like it stopped after the third step, leaving
your /dev/st1 without access to its drive, but the rest of your system
intact.

This can happen because of a bogus CDB sent to the tape drive, but the
'st' driver really shouldn't do that. So it's either a hardware
failure (noise on the line or whatever) or an error in the tape drive.
