Hi all,

We've been running an install of 2.6.0p2 for the last year or so, on
RHEL 5 x64, connecting to a 4-drive LTO4 library over fibre channel.
The library is partitioned, 2 drives per partition, with Amanda having
visibility and zoning to half of the drives. In addition, we're running
Enterprise Key Management software on a separate host, to manage the
encryption keys for the LTO4 on-drive encryption over the network. Once
tapes have been dumped to, they are sent off-site for a 6-month period.

The problem that I've been experiencing is that, occasionally, we'll get
a tape back from storage, and it won't have a label on the tape header
all of a sudden. It's not every tape, it's not in any pattern that I
can see, and once the label is re-written, the tape is perfectly usable.

The backup software that uses the other half of the library
(proprietary, Windows-based... ptoo!) does not have this issue.
Therefore, I'm wondering what in Amanda could be causing this to happen.

Any suggestions as to what to check/test?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
