Hellow All.

I have questions about a parmaeter of amanda.conf.

I am using Amanda 2.6.1p1 and have been reading the man page of
amanda.conf.

I found the "amrecover_do_fsf" parameter in the GROBAL PARAMETER
section of the man page. See the following citation.

===== From amanda.conf(5) ==========
    amrecover_do_fsf  bool
       Default: on. Amrecover will call amrestore with the -f flag for
       faster positioning of the tape.
====================================

I have 2 question about this parameter.

(1) Does amrecover call amrestore?

I briefly take a look in source files of amrecover.
It seems that amrecover calls tar or dump directly and
doesn't call amrestore.

Is my brief research correct?

(2) Why is positioning performance improved by the -f flag?

Assuming my research is incorrect, I cannot understand
why the -f flag of amrestore makes improvement at tape
positioning performance.

In other words, I cannot imagine how amrestore works
when it's called from amrevoer without -f.

I will appreciate any advice.

Sincerely.
