Amanda users,

We are running amanda 2.6.1p1 and for some partitions
what where ZFS with snapshot but having issues with gtar
we have moved to star.

I am seeing a couple of problems, in order of severity

1) The exclude options I had don't seem to be working.

I know (checked zmanda wiki) that it should work the same
for star and gtar, but the the index file and dumped/tapes
DLE size clearly show that they do not.

ie from my disklist
cascade /cascadep/export/ghost /cascadep/export/ghost   {
        nocomp-user-zfs-amstar
        exclude "./[ghost-archive]*"
        }

from my index file using star, these 'ghost-archive/* files
are not present in the index files created when we where
using gtar.

this is a problem I'd thought I'd licked using gtar.

2) Does star suffer from the device selection issue
   that gtar did when using zfs snapshots ?

3) Once we have excludes working I can exclude files that
   are in non-global zones what link back to the global zone.
   Until excludes are working again is there another way to
   exclude or ignore those files, or filter the output to
   make the amanda dump report more readable ?

4) star is reporting that a number of files are "sparse". This
   is the nature of the data files we are backing up, is there
   a way to exclude these messages from amdump, the report
   becomes largely unreadable and obscures other more serious problems..

                                                thanks,

                                                Brian
