This is using amanda-server 1:2.5.2p1-1, on Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS, Hungry
Hippo, so this may be a known issue. (Yes, I know, upgrade. I tried.
http://localhost/~ccurley/crcweb/blog/archives/2010/05/26/ludicrous_lynx_not_fit_for_fit-pc_1/index.html)

I had the disk that holds my vtapes die this morning during the
overnight backups. I was able to recover from that, and flushed the
holding disk successfully. Just to be paranoid (paranoids live longer),
I also ran amrecover on the dump that was being copied to "tape" at the
time the drive failed. It was successful. Also, a list of the files in
the virtual tape suggests that it is there.

However, amverify came up with some interesting results. For the dump
in question, it reports "Spanning chunk part X is missing!" where X is
two to nine. For most other dumps, it reports "all parts found".

I also get, e.g.:

Skipped /bin/tar check on partial dump
chaffee.localdomain._var.20100614.1.1

That dump has two files, 00008-chaffee.localdomain._var.1
and 00008.chaffee.localdomain._var.1

The tape split size is 1 GB.
