I read that some cheaper Adaptec (1045, 1405 IIRC) are not compatible with LTO4! Is this correct? I prefer a Novell SuSE based backup system. Any pitfalls known for such a combination?
As a data point: I have one backup server running SLES11 SP1, which connects to HP MSL2024 library with two HP Ultrium 1760 drives (LTO4, SAS) using Adaptec 1045 adapter. It's working just fine. This particular server isn't running Amanda but I really don't think Amanda would have any compatibility problems with this hardware/OS combo.
