Jean-Louis,
Almost forgot to say, Amanda 3.1.2 on both the server and
the 'large client'. Both Solaris 10x86.
My 'large' server now has 36 clients (including itself) with
a total of 282 DLEs. One of the clients (not the server) has 177 DLEs.
We are using authbsd between this client and server (for this
client, not for all clients) and some of the DLEs use zfs
snapshots and others use globbing. [We discussed this some time
ago and I believe there is no current method to use snapshots
and globbing on the same DLE]
Dispite setting resource controls for the user we are still
seeing a problem with the open file limit on the clients. Not
sure if I should just keep raising the limit or if my aproach
is not correct.
Resource limits are set in /etc/user_attr, which seems effective
as interactive login to the amanda user allows me to see the
increased value of "descriptors" as 4096, up from the original 250.
I thought setting the value in user_attr rather than using the
limit command in the .cshrc file would catch the amandad and
other daemons where .cshrc would only affect shell tasks.
> limit
cputime unlimited
filesize unlimited
datasize unlimited
stacksize 10240 kbytes
coredumpsize unlimited
vmemoryuse unlimited
descriptors 4096
Is this not correct ? Wrong value ? Needs to be a little higher ?
