Joe,

Yes, Amanda can use Vtapes, virtual-tapes. I have a config
that is currently doing so. The setup is the same as what
you are currently familiar with but the jukebox and tapes
are virtual. Yes, you still want to utilize a work area.

Capacity:
What is the average nightly output to tape now ? Assuming
the data in future is similar to the data you have now you
should be able to estimate storage needs given current usage
and desired longevity of the 'tape' pool.
