Thank you, I removed them from the dumptype, where they where
unused, they where already present in the script.
I ran the amdump command manually, I'm not certain that that is a
valid thing to do, but it produced an amandad.*.debug file, with
this tail.

I'm going to fall back to the client's amanda 2.6.1 version for now
while I look at this and scratch my head some more.
Thank you for your help, we are much further than before and I learned
something about amanda's internals as well.
