Hi All,

We have been using AMANDA for backing up data on our Linux file server for last
5 years. The file server is currently hosted on an RHEL6 OS with AMANDA version
amanda-2.6.1p2-7.el6.i686 on it. The AMANDA backup server resides on a server
with  RHEL3 as the OS with AMANDA version amanda-backup_server-2.5.2p1-1.rhel3.
I have 2 queries - one about migration to the newest version of AMANDA (ver
3.x) and the second about migration of the AMANDA backup server to an
altogether different server (with RHEL5 as the OS). The query is -

What is the right way to migrate the AMANDA backup server to a new backup
server (as mentioned above)  with AMANDA 3.x (on both the *existing* backup
client and the *new* backup server) without rendering the existing
backups/logs/index unusable ? I need to be able to recover from my existing
backups even after moving to a new physical backup server and the newer version
of AMANDA. I would appreciate if anybody could suggest the appropriate
pointers/docs/howtos. Kindly let me know if I need to mention more specific
information about my existing setup or the requirement.

Thanks in advance,
Yogesh Hasabnis
