I'm having problems using both AIT drives in my Treefrog (a.k.a. Spectra
Logic 215 or Sony Library-302) changer at the same time.
My changer definition is:
define changer offsite {
tapedev "chg-robot:/dev/pass12"
property "tape-device" "0=tape:/dev/nsa4" "1=tape:/dev/nsa5"
changerfile"/var/amanda/changer.offsite.status"
}
And it uses both tape drives, just not at the same time. I'm pretty sure
from some announcements that the taper should support multiple scribes
at the same time. I can't seem to get Amanda to write to more than one
drive at a time though.
It is using both drives. I left the DRIVE-CHOICE knob at the default of
LRU, and I see Amanda rotating between the drives.
Our off-site backups consume 6 tapes, so there is enough work for two
tape drives. During the back-up we have far more than 1 tape worth of
data on the holding disk. In fact, this last time the changer dropped
communication so we only got 2 tapes written with the amdump run.
Started an amflush and it finished off the next 4 tapes, but only
writing to one tape at a time, but still switching between tape drives.
I'm betting it is something small that I just haven't set right, but any
advice that people have would be appreciated. I'd love to double our
bandwidth to tape.
Thanks.
