That would appear to be nearly ideal. Here, I have 5 dle's over 4Gb. So far, the planner has not made an attempt to reschedule the largest at 16Gb & change, nor the 3rd largest at just under 8Gb. The one between is a bit more than 8Gb, and it has moved it, but just once. > Do you see a case where it would be bad to do it? Only if I should pull in 2 or 3 new release DVD iso's on the same day, putting all of them in the same dle. I would expect amanda to be 'disturbed' then in any event. IOW not amanda's fault, but mine. But ATM I am only following 2 distro's, pclos which is a rolling update distro, only rolling a new dvd image when needed to keep the initial install post update in a reasonable time & size frame, and whenever the linuxcnc folks get around to doing a new release which is based on the ubuntu LTS release, but waits 2 or 3 months to do an RTAI integration with a stable kernel, which is then frozen till the next LTS release, and to give ubuntu time to fix the infant mortality's of each new release. But that is not normally on a dvd, but a cd, the downloading of which isn't that big a deal to amanda. And, its something I would consider in my finger pointing should amanda get a tummmy ache after MY doing it. The next expected cd from the linuxcnc folks (used to be emc, but they have lawyers & came calling this past winter) won't be till June or maybe July, depending on how hard it is to make RTAI play nicely with it, and how much initial churn the release has. > It will not fix all problems but I think it is an improvement for all > cases. Certainly better that what we have had for quite a while now. This current patch, which I applied to 4613 too, is making a difference but I'm not convinced it has had sufficient 'settling time' yet. I am inclined to let it simmer until it settles, say for another dumpcycle, unless you are seeing something that needs attended to in my logs quicker than that. Thanks Jean-Louis.
