The client works well but this file seems missing.
This executable is actually part of the server package, not the client.
$ rpm -qlp amanda-backup_server-3.3.1-1.rhel6.i686.rpm | grep add
/usr/sbin/amaddclient
/usr/share/man/man8/amaddclient.8.gz
Perhaps the confusion is where the utility should be executed?
amaddclient runs on the server not the client.
