Ok, here is a crazy question.

We where talking about backups in the office, and saving space
on our Vtapes. And with zfs snapshot taken nightly and kept for
a week, I suggested that we really only needed amanda to backup
things that where more than a week old, that if Amanda had weekly
level 0 dumps of each DLE, we would be able to leave incremental
dumps as zfs-snapshots on disk.

 - I realize this only allows for file recovery, and not for any
sort of hardware recovery, but we have yet to see the kinds of
problem son ZFS raid2 volumes that we have had on RAID 5 and 6
   on other platforms.

Anyway, supposing you trust the HW and want to keep rolling snapshots
for a week, can you configure amanda to run level 0 dumps weekly, but
easilly distribute over the course of the week?

I realize I could
        1) swap out the disklist file daily
        2) always run level 0, but only run amanda once/week.

but I was wondering if I could run it in a way that would not
dump the DLE until it was "due" for its level 0, and allow amanda
to distribute the level 0 dumps throughout the week as it does now?

                                                thanks,

                                                Brian
