So, thinking it might be compiled in somehow, I just tried to build & install amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199.tar.gz, but an error destroyed the install, or at least amcheck was not found by my install script. The error: libtool: link: gcc -Wall -Wextra -Wparentheses -Wdeclaration-after- statement -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations - Wformat -Wformat-security -Wsign-compare -Wfloat-equal -Wold-style- definition -Wno-strict-aliasing -Wno-unknown-pragmas -g -O2 -fno-strict- aliasing -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -o .libs/amindexd amindexd.o disk_history.o list_dir.o -Wl,--export-dynamic -pthread ./.libs/libamserver.so /home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/device- src/.libs/libamdevice.so ../device-src/.libs/libamdevice.so /home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/xfer-src/.libs/libamxfer.so /home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/ndmp-src/.libs/libndmlib.so ../common-src/.libs/libamanda.so ../amandad-src/.libs/libamandad.so /home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/common-src/.libs/libamanda.so - lcrypto /usr/lib/libcurl.so -lm /usr/lib/libgmodule-2.0.so /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so /usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so -lrt /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so -lnsl -lresolv -pthread -Wl,-rpath - Wl,/usr/local/lib/amanda ./.libs/libamserver.so: undefined reference to `g_ptr_array_new_full' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[3]: *** [amindexd] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/server- src' make[2]: *** [install] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199/server- src' make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/amanda/amanda-4.0.0alpha.svn.5199' make: *** [install] Error 2 install done, now running amcheck as the user amanda -su: amcheck: not found So, I'll go back to 4761 and see if that will rebuild & install: Yes and no, an extra - in the amcheck invocation crept into my "newmanda" script. Then I thought I'd go back and 'bisect' it, but note two alarming things: 1) I can't download the older versions and 2) the last new version is dated late March. Has the Community builds site been moved or ??? So what is going on with amanda? A 1.5 decade long user is asking.
