I received several confirmations of my request to the functioning of the mailing list, which confirms that the mailing list is working AND that my settings are OK. I also checked the mail log and that also confirms that my posts were accepted: " 2014-02-12T15:26:09.951070+01:00 fiume postfix/qmgr[2317]: D8024208AB: from=<[email protected]>, size=118205, nrcpt=1 (queue active) 2014-02-12T15:26:39.893752+01:00 fiume postfix/smtp[9140]: D8024208AB: to=<[email protected]>, relay=guinness.omniscient.com[205.129.9.5]:25, delay=30, delays=0.14/0.01/12/18, d sn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 s1CEQLJO003080 Message accepted for delivery) "
However, although I have resubmitted my original post, that particular message did NOT return. That message started with: " From: Charles Stroom <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Subject: Fw: Failing to get amanda working on client with ssh Date: Wed, 12 Feb 2014 15:26:09 +0100 X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.9.2 (GTK+ 2.24.22; i586-suse-linux-gnu) 3rd retry to post. Regards, Charles .. .. " As you can see, the maillog above corresponds to my resend. I have had this once before, with another yahoo group, where a post was disappearing all the time, until I made a slight change to the text. Therefore I will append the first part of my original post here and see if that part goes through. " Hi all, I have recently updated my 2 PCs from opensuse 11.4 to 13.1. On 11.4 all was working fine, server fiume backupped itself and client stremen. I think I compiled amanda from srpm on 11.4, it was version 3.2.2, but on 13.1 I installed the suse rpm version 3.3.3. Differences between the 2 were the backupuser and group, "amandabackup/disk" vs "amanda/amanda" in 13.1. I used bsdtcp for all in 11.4, but I decided to go for ssh for the client in 13.1. The client (stremen) does not work, localhost (the server = fiume) works fine (with bsdtcp). I have been looking for a week or so, but cannot find a clue as to what is not working. I followed the instructions for the keys and amanda can login to stremen without password: " amanda@fiume:~> ssh -i /etc/amanda/daily_dds4/ssh-key stremen Last login: Sun Feb 9 00:20:03 2014 from fiume.localnet Have a lot of fun... amanda@stremen:~> " An amcheck says: " amanda@fiume:~> amcheck daily_dds4 Amanda Tape Server Host Check ----------------------------- Holding disk /work/amanda/dumps: 5038080 KB disk space available, using 4833280 KB slot 1: volume 'dds4-03' Will write to volume 'dds4-03' in slot 1. Looking at it, I am wondering if the opensuse amanda rpm actually has ssh compiled in and that this is the problem. amdump: start at Sat Feb 8 18:29:02 CET 2014 amdump: datestamp 20140208 amdump: starttime 20140208182902 amdump: starttime-locale-independent 2014-02-08 18:29:02 CET driver: pid 4687 executable /usr/lib/amanda/driver version 3.3.3 planner: pid 4686 executable /usr/lib/amanda/planner version 3.3.3 planner: build: VERSION="Amanda-3.3.3" planner: BUILT_DATE="Sat Sep 28 08:13:42 UTC 2013" BUILT_MACH="" planner: BUILT_REV="5099" BUILT_BRANCH="community_3_3_3" CC="gcc" planner: paths: bindir="/usr/bin" sbindir="/usr/sbin" planner: libexecdir="/usr/lib" amlibexecdir="/usr/lib/amanda" planner: mandir="/usr/share/man" AMANDA_TMPDIR="/tmp/amanda" planner: AMANDA_DBGDIR="/tmp/amanda" CONFIG_DIR="/etc/amanda" planner: DEV_PREFIX="/dev/" RDEV_PREFIX="/dev/" DUMP="/sbin/dump" planner: RESTORE="/sbin/restore" VDUMP=UNDEF VRESTORE=UNDEF planner: XFSDUMP=UNDEF XFSRESTORE=UNDEF VXDUMP=UNDEF VXRESTORE=UNDEF planner: SAMBA_CLIENT=UNDEF GNUTAR="/bin/tar" planner: COMPRESS_PATH="/usr/bin/gzip" planner: UNCOMPRESS_PATH="/usr/bin/gzip" LPRCMD=UNDEF MAILER=UNDEF planner: listed_incr_dir="/var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists" planner: defs: DEFAULT_SERVER="localhost" DEFAULT_CONFIG="DailySet1" planner: DEFAULT_TAPE_SERVER="localhost" DEFAULT_TAPE_DEVICE="" planner: NEED_STRSTR AMFLOCK_POSIX AMFLOCK_FLOCK AMFLOCK_LOCKF planner: AMFLOCK_LNLOCK SETPGRP_VOID AMANDA_DEBUG_DAYS=4 BSD_SECURITY planner: KRB5_SECURITY RSH_SECURITY USE_AMANDAHOSTS planner: CLIENT_LOGIN="amanda" CHECK_USERID HAVE_GZIP planner: COMPRESS_SUFFIX=".gz" COMPRESS_FAST_OPT="--fast" planner: COMPRESS_BEST_OPT="--best" UNCOMPRESS_OPT="-dc" .. .. stremen.localnet:/var overdue 10 days for level 0 setup_estimate: stremen.localnet:/var: command 0, options: none last_level 0 next_level0 -10 level_days 1 getting estimates 0 (-3) 1 (-3) -1 (-3) planner: time 0.103: setting up estimates took 0.102 secs GETTING ESTIMATES... planner: error: couldn't exec : No such file or directory error result for host stremen.localnet disk /var: Request to stremen.localnet failed: EOF on read from stremen.localnet error result for host stremen.localnet disk /home: Request to stremen.localnet failed: EOF on read from stremen.localnet .. .. ..
