Hi all - I was wondering if anyone else had seen this problem and found a resolution. We switched some of our storage servers to RHEL 7 and XFS file systems recently and since then I am having some problems with the backups. My main issue is that backups fill fail with errors such as:
xxx.eecs.utk.edu <http://fs2.eecs.utk.edu/> /export/home/students/2 lev 1 FAILED [too many dumper retry: [request failed: EOF on read from xxx.eecs.utk.edu <http://fs2.eecs.utk.edu/>]] This doesn’t happen to every DLE every time but some of them almost every single time. Some file systems on the same server will back up fine, but there shouldn’t be any functional difference. The logs haven’t yielded much information. It looks like the send size tar processes work fine but when it comes to actual backups, I get this sort of time out. All the connections are via SSH. When a DLE fails, it generally leaves a zero-length file in the holding disk. The error shows up in the dumper logs as: Tue Feb 10 21:30:17 2015: thd-0x12426f0: dumper: security_seterror(handle=0x127b570, driver=0x37afe60500 (SSH) error=EOF on read from xxx.eecs.utk.edu) Tue Feb 10 21:30:17 2015: thd-0x12426f0: dumper: security_close(handle=0x127b570, driver=0x37afe60500 (SSH)) I cannot find anything useful in the logs on the backup client. Both server and client are on amanda 3.3.6. I’ve tried increasing the value for "req-tries” but that hasn’t helped. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Markus --- Markus A.
