Hello,
I am new on this list, so I don't know if the issue was discussed previously, but I couldn't find anything in the archives, so I'll ask anyway:

I have just setup a backup server and a client using ScientificLinux6 (RHEL6) machines (so - amanda is version 2.6.1p2)

Everything went smooth. However, on my test backup run I observed that the large binary files were corrupted after the restore.

They were the exact same size (and permissions), but had occasional bytes that differed from the originals.

This only happened on large binary files (like executables, and large gzipped archives that I happened to have in the test dir.)

What might be the reason for that?
Initially I was using the "comp-user-tar" dumptype, but later reproduced the problem with the "comp-user" dumptype too.

The backup did not span more than one tape.
Also, I noted that if I restore the problematic files on the backup server, they are not corrupt. So - something seems to be happening on the way back to the client.

Should I suspect networking issues?
My vtapes are on a software-raid (mdadm) array. Could that somehow affect the process (would be weird, but I have to ask)
Behaviour was the same with and without holding disk.

Regards,
Stefan.
