None of the systems running here have been infected with systemd yet.
Yet to be determined is its effect on IRQ latency, and the realtime
software I run demands figures in the 2 to 4 microsecond category if
doing software pulse generation for stepper motors. Otherwise it takes a
$90 FPGA card to do it for much faster machine moving ability. I now
have LinuxCNC converted to use one of those cards on 2 of my machines.

We build specially patched kernels for that, then pin them in the
package-managers parlance, and run them until the wheels fall off. So
the latest installed kernel here is 3.2.0-4, an AMD64 build on this
machine. But on this machine it can only run the simulated machine
version since it does not have the rtai patchkit applied. But that
allows me to proof test code ideas from a comfy office chair.

Those boxes actually running the machines are running 3.4-9-rtai-686-pae,
which if I run it on this machine with its 8Gb of memory, is not PAE in
fact which results in swap problems in about 24 hours up time. The
machine boxes only have 2Gb of ram, and that works great, with uptimes
from power bump to power bump.

The spector of a systemd equipt (or infected) system has not yet arrived
for this user. ;-) And from its birthing pains so vividly described on
the many mailing lists, I dread the day and what effect it will have on
LinuxCNC users.

Another unrelated question: When are you going to set a List-id: line so
that when I hit "reply to list", I don't get an empty To: line & then
have to copy/paste the lists address into the the To: line before I can
send the message back to the list?
