How do you perform your archival using Amanda? (very open ended question -
asking through curiosity).

In the end I decided to use multiple configurations to do this. I split them up
on a per-server basis. So one config represented a server. Though in one case I
actually split a server in half and used two configs.

This worked well, the only thing that went wrong was that I didn't always build
the tape list up properly. So sometimes it didn't find the new tape it wanted.
That was me/my fault though not Amanda. Need to be careful you don't get your
tape lists in a pickle using this method.

So I ran one - Config A. Then when I was happy A was done. Used Config B. Then
Config C and so on.

I thought I'd sneak in one other question... Could someone clarify the part
column. In this case it's the fourth part of the same DLE, but what does the -1
mean?

part 4/-1 lev 0 comp .gz program /bin/tar

thanks
David
