Hi all, I'm looking at utilising RAIT.
I have roughly 33TB of hard disk that can be used for VTATE and 8x LTO6 tapes max. Does my length in my tape definition need to match my VTAPE length? The tape changer will apply hardware compression... So will achieve more than 2.1TB. Uncompressed worst case 8x LTO6 tapes would be 2.1 TB*8 = 16.8 TB I was thinking of saying tape length 2.1TB and vtape length 3TB ... related to above Q.. is this sensible/possible? I was thinking of setting it up in a manner where it runs for two weeks. Then stops. The tapes are then removed as an archival copy. A new set of tapes is loaded. Then the vtapes get overwritten and new tapes (blank) are in the loader and written to. regards David ---------------------- David Simpson - Computing Support Officer Institute of Biomedical Engineering - IBME Old Road Campus Research Building Oxford, OX3 7DQ
